Mission Statements

The Stanton rowing program consists of three integrated groups:

1) STANTON & RIVER BANK CREW: The heart of rowing is the rower. The mission of Stanton & River Bank Crews is to kick butt! Other goals include developing athleticism, sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment while maintaining academic focus. Competition is done at varsity, lightweight, junior varsity, third varsity, freshman and novice levels. The Stanton Crew elects student officers to handle school club business.

  1. STANTON ROWING FOUNDATION, INC.(Foundation): The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation established to promote junior rowing by providing rowing equipment and facilities. The Foundation is made up of interested members of the community, parents of rowers, and alumni. Foundation funds have been used to provide financial aid to rowers and to help offset expenses related to travel to regional, national and international competition. Fundraising activities for this group have included obtaining corporate donations, establishing a crew endowment, developing a capital fund drive for the construction of a boathouse and sponsoring the First Coast Head Race. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. Ultimately, the Foundation is responsible for setting policies and oversight of the rowing program administered by Stanton Rowing.

  2. STANTON ROWING AT RIVER BANK, INC. (Stanton Rowing): Stanton Rowing facilitates the day-to-day operation of the Stanton & Riverbank Crew through daily volunteer support, coordination and fundraising. Stanton Rowing manages the committees that provide for operations of Crew, staging two major local regattas, supporting travel to various competitions, organizing the year-end banquet and awards. Monies come primarily from rowers’ fees and fundraisers. Various fundraisers are coordinated by Stanton Rowing throughout the year such as the Poinsettia Sales, Cookie Dough sales, the Ergathon, car washes and concessions at races. Each year the members of Stanton Rowing nominate and elect officers to oversee the Stanton Rowing organization, subject to approval by the Foundation. Stanton Rowing meetings are held the third Thursday of each month. All parents of rowers are members of Stanton Rowing at River Bank, Inc. and are encouraged to attend. Attendance at meetings ensures that parents will be informed of all the activities in which the rowers are involved.

The rowing program does not happen by accident. Crew parents, coaches, rowers and our Foundation contribute hours of hard work and fundraising to keep our Crew afloat.
